Principal Walsh needs YOUR input! Survey on being a “Red Devil”

Eonju HwangNews

Principal Walsh seeks your input in his effort to identify and target a strong school community identity and voice. The core question is…..what does it mean to be a Hinsdale Central High School Red Devil?

Here is some relevant explanation and background regarding this campaign: The last several years has been a trying time, we have been through so much as a community of Red Devils. Through my observations this year, I believe we may have strayed the path of our Red Devil identity. Our students from the classes of 2020, 2021, and 2022 lost opportunities to pass on traditions and what it is to be a Red Devil. Additionally, 31+ staff will be retiring in the next several years. 31+ staff who have a rich understanding of the fire and passion that lives in our hallways, classrooms, athletic fields and in our activities. Therefore before the school year comes to an end, I am embarking on an exercise in finding our true identity. There is an old proverb that says “A bird doesn’t sing because it has the answer . . . it sings because it has a song.” Together let us identify our song, our identity.

This is NOT an attempt to alter the mascot or change school colors, rather an opportunity to work together as a team to define core values, belief systems and a common school spirit.

Principal Walsh has created a foundational team of students and staff, and will be looking for a few parents and alumni to embark on finding the true Red Devil identity. If you are interested in being on this stakeholder team, please email him your interest. A stakeholder meeting may be scheduled in late May or early June.
