An Evening with Chris Herren: Prevention Starts with All

The HC PTO and HCHS are honored and excited to welcome back former NBA player, substance use disorder survivor, current motivational speaker and founder of the nonprofit Herren Project, Mr. Chris Herren, to our school. 

In addition to presenting to students, Mr. Herren will be giving a presentation to the community on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at 7pm in the Hinsdale Central High School AuditoriumJoin us as Mr. Herren shares his journey navigating the disease of addiction, the road to recovery, and his mission to reach just one person and make a difference.

We welcome and encourage all parents and community members to attend this inspiring presentation.

Referendum Information

Keep informed about the upcoming Referendum by accessing the D86 Vote Yes, SOS Campaign website  and  D86 website.  The D86 website provides meeting dates access to livestream BOE meetings and facts regarding the Referendum.  The campaign website has volunteer opportunities, community events and speaking points regarding the referendum as well as how to receive updates through your personal email.

This is a reminder that the 2018-19 Illinois Parent Survey opened on Oct. 23, 2018. The survey window will close on Feb. 15, 2019, so please complete the survey soon. Illinois State Board of Education 5Essentials Survey is a research based school improvement system that gives schools, districts and states data & insights into schools’ organizational strengths and areas of opportunity across 5 essential factors: Effective Leaders, Collaborative Teachers, Involved Families, Supportive Environment, and Ambitious Instruction. At this time, only 6% of our parents have taken the 5Essentials Survey.

Boosters College Planning Night Monday, Jan 28th – Register Now!

The Boosters are hosting a final college planning workshop on Monday, January 28th presented by Oak Brook based Partners For Achievement (PFA).
Parents and students from 9th – 11th grade are encouraged to attend 3 Steps to College Planning & Career Success – a 90 minute presentation designed to share the best practices of the college admissions, financial aid and career planning process.
The workshop will cover building a strong college list, improving your admission odds at highly selective schools, writing a compelling college essay, finding schools that give the most merit or financial aid, FAFSA overview, scholarship search recommendations, creating a standout resume and landing internships. The workshops will be held offsite at The Community House. Space is limited. Online registration is requested

Q2 Make A Difference Winners Announced

The PTO’s Make a Difference Committee Announces QUARTER 2 Winners!

The PTO’s Make A Difference Committee would like to announce the 2th Quarter Winners of the Make a Difference Award for teachers or administrators who go over and beyond the call of duty for their students. Please congratulate these special staff members. The committee received many nominations submitted by students, teachers and parents.

Red Devil Spirit Scholarship

The Hinsdale Central PTO will award 10 – $1,000 scholarships to selected graduating seniors to help them meet the expenses of their first year of college.  
Candidates will be chosen based on financial need, involvement at HCHS and a typed 500 word personal statement describing what they love about being a Red Devil, what Red Devil characteristics they will bring with them to their college experience and how they will do so.
Applicants are not restricted as to the school they choose to attend, nor is there a minimum GPA requirement.  All applicants must be enrolled full time at the school of their choice to receive the scholarship.

The application deadline is Friday, March 15th and winners will be announced at the Senior Scholarship ceremony on May 22nd. Good luck!
