” Peer Athlete Student Scholars” (PASS) is a free program that matches athletes together for one to one and group study opportunities over all core content subjects: math, science, language arts, social studies, and foreign language. Peer tutors are student athletes who have a proven track record of success in core subjects and are available to meet  before/after school and on Sundays at the library to lift up, empower and encourage success both on and off the court/field!  When we study together, we succeed together fostering excellence both in academics and athletics. Interested students for study groups or one to one tutoring should contact Ary Bansal at abansal6002@stu.hinsdale86.org  or fill out this google FORM to join. See FLYER for more details.

Annual Families Helping Families Donations Request

Denys KangNews

We are reaching out during the entire month of THANKSgiving to request your support. Thank you to those who have already donated to Families Helping Families. So far, we have received far less in donations compared to previous years. In order for FHF to continue to support and meet the needs of your child’s peers and their families, we are asking for monetary donations from our school community.

The Families Helping Families Committee has been working with the Hinsdale Central Social Work Department since 2006 to support Hinsdale Central families who need a helping hand. Our mission is to ensure every student has the support they need to thrive at Hinsdale Central.

Please consider donating by using our online form on the PTO website and selecting “Families Helping Families” from the committee list. You can also write a check to HCPTO (memo FHF) and mail it to Hinsdale Central HS, Attention HC PTO (5500 S Grant St., Hinsdale, 60521). Any amount is greatly appreciated.

Your donation will help to provide gift cards to families at Thanksgiving and to meet needs as they arise, such as gas cards, clothing, toiletries, utility/rent payments, etc. Email fhf@hcpto.org with questions.

Thank you for your generous support!

Sponsor $10 for a Staff Thanksgiving Pie!!

Denys KangNews

Show your appreciation for the Hinsdale Central staff by donating $10 to sponsor a Thanksgiving pie! Every year the HC PTO Staff Appreciation volunteers provide pumpkin pies – and it is one of the staff’s favorite days! They are grateful for the gesture as one last item they have to make or for those visiting family, they have a tasty treat ready to bring.

Your donation will be acknowledged on the Happy Thanksgiving sticker placed on each pie (ie. “Happy Thanksgiving from the Smith Family.”)

Donate $10 to help continue this PTO Thanksgiving tradition HERE. The donation period ends on Friday, 11/22. The pies will be handed out on Tuesday, 11/26. If you would like to volunteer to help distribute the pies, keep your eye out for a sign-up genius from the Staff Appreciation team.

Due to logistics, we are unable to accommodate requests to sponsor pies to specific staff members.

ICYMI 10/16 PTO Meeting w/Dr. Lach

Denys KangNews

Did you miss the PTO meeting this past week? Kristin McDaniel gave a President’s Report that included an update on many of our hardworking committees.  Principal Walsh had an update on the pool re-opening and some good news about HC sports. He also shared an opportunity for women and girls in leadership.

We were delighted to host our featured guest, the new superintendent of D86, Dr. Michael Lach. He shared with us his career before coming to D86 and he answered questions from the audience.

A recording of the entire meeting is available HERE.

There will be no PTO meeting in November, but we will be sharing a popular video from last year’s presentation by HC teachers who gave parents tips for how to help students prepare for exams.

Our next general meeting is on Wednesday, January 15, at 7 pm. This will be conducted on Zoom only.

Thank you for Attending our September PTO Meeting

Denys KangNews

This past Wednesday morning we had our first PTO meeting of the school year. Make A Difference, Staff Appreciation, and Families Helping Families gave updates on their committees and talked about their goals and volunteer opportunities for the year.  Principal Walsh had updates on buildings and grounds, safety on campus, and Homecoming activities.

Our feature presenters were some of the school’s Guidance Counselors. They talked about what their department does to help each student throughout their years at Central to be ready for what’s next for after high school. You can view their slides HERE.

A recording of the entire meeting is available HERE.

Our next general meeting is on Wednesday, October 16th at 7 pm. This will be conducted on Zoom only. The special guest will be our new Superintendent Lach.
