On February 20th at 7 pm at Hinsdale South High School Auditorium, Tracy Kline & Karla Megow, of College Of DuPage, will present on COD’s COACH (Career Opportunities and Achievement) program. These programs are designed to help increase educational, vocational and socialization opportunities for developmentally disabled students in DuPage County. It provides post-high school transition students with additional educational training aimed at preparing them for meaningful employment.

Taryn Chrapkowski, District 86’s Transitional Team will present national data behind post-secondary education and employment, and how it drives transition planning, outline the district transition service programs and integrating assistive technology for post-secondary success.

Tim Ahlberg, Assistant Director of Admission at Elmhurst College, will present the Elmhurst Learning & Success Academy (ELSA) at Elmhurst College. ELSA is a four-year, post-secondary college experience program for young adults with differing abilities between the ages of 18 and 28. ELSA focuses on academics, career exploration, social and recreational experiences in a traditional four-year college environment

Documentary Film: Screenagers Next Chapter – February 5th

Presented by The Community Speaker Series, D181 & D86.

Join us on February 5th, 2020 at The Community House for a viewing of this new film followed by a discussion with Dr. Ruston.

Filmmaker and physician Dr. Delaney Ruston takes the conversation around screens and teens to the next level with Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER: Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience – a film that examines the science behind teens’ emotional challenges, the interplay of social media, and most importantly, what can be done in our schools and homes to help them build crucial skills to navigate stress, anxiety, and depression in our digital age. Winter Fling

The Student Winter Dance is back!

The HCHS 2020 Winter Fling will be on Saturday, January 25th from 6-8 p.m in the Hinsdale Central Field House.

The Winter Fling will feature food trucks from Taco Grill (tacos, nachos, enchiladas, etc.), MyFunnel (Funnel cakes), and Moonshot’s Stadium on Wheels (hot dogs, cracker jack’s, and nachos) for purchase. In addition, there will be performances by student bands including the Blue Springs and DJing by student Tristan Rush. In addition to dancing, Foosball, Air Hockey, Ping Pong and Pop-a-Shot games will be available.

The dress code is casual. Students can come in a group, individually, or with a date.

Tickets will be on sale the week of Jan. 21st during lunch periods and at the door. Tickets are $5 with a current Activity pass or $10 without an Activity pass. Tickets can also be purchased online here.

The Hinsdale Central drama program is facing a shortage. We need your help with funding costumes and more for our upcoming performances. Unlike most sports, Drama is restricted from charging costume fees.
Whether your teen is an actor, in crew or other supporting roles, please join the Drama Parents Association and help us fill the racks and give more theater kids an opportunity to be on stage!

Country House is Cooking for Boosters the Week of Jan 27th – Feb 2nd

HC Boosters is sponsoring a dining week with Country House (Clarendon Hills location only) from Monday, January 27th – Sunday, February 2nd. They are open for lunch and dinner.

Country House will donate 15% back on all food purchases. Dine in or carry out, but you must show the flyer (paper or on phone) to qualify. Pick a date and treat yourself. You can also carryout some of their great food for the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 2nd. Country House is located at 241 55th Street in Clarendon Hills.

Thank you for supporting Boosters! All funds raised benefit the Activities, Arts and Athletics at Hinsdale Central. Each year we donate $5oK – $75K back to the students. Go Red Devils!!!

PTO Meeting: Course Registration and Curriculum Updates

Not sure what advice to give your student regarding course selection next year? Are you new to the process and not sure what happens when? Join us Wednesday, January 15th, in The Community Room as Assistant Principal, Jessica Hurt, and Director of Guidance Counseling, Jennifer Regnier, take us through curriculum updates, and discuss what our students should expect during course registration for the 20-21 school year.

The business meeting will start at 9am, and Conversations with Jessica Hurt and Jennifer Regnier will start at 9:30am. Refreshments provided. All are welcome!
