ICYMI 10/16 PTO Meeting w/Dr. Lach

Denys KangNews

Did you miss the PTO meeting this past week? Kristin McDaniel gave a President’s Report that included an update on many of our hardworking committees.  Principal Walsh had an update on the pool re-opening and some good news about HC sports. He also shared an opportunity for women and girls in leadership.

We were delighted to host our featured guest, the new superintendent of D86, Dr. Michael Lach. He shared with us his career before coming to D86 and he answered questions from the audience.

A recording of the entire meeting is available HERE.

There will be no PTO meeting in November, but we will be sharing a popular video from last year’s presentation by HC teachers who gave parents tips for how to help students prepare for exams.

Our next general meeting is on Wednesday, January 15, at 7 pm. This will be conducted on Zoom only.

Q1 Make A Difference Nominations Due This Friday, October 4th!

Denys KangNews

Submit your nominations forms by Friday, 10/4! Many teachers and staff members go above and beyond to engage students or provide extra support to others in our Red Devil community. They teach classes, advise clubs, coach teams, and provide services that “make a difference” at our school. If you know of a teacher or staff member whose dedication or kindness has had a positive and lasting impact on you or a student, we invite you to nominate them. When describing why this individual deserves the award, PLEASE BE AS SPECIFIC AS POSSIBLE! Although applications must be signed, those who submit nominations will remain anonymous.  Please nominate them for a Make A Difference Award by completing the form HERE.
Anyone can make a nomination! The PTO presents six recipients with Make A Difference Awards each quarter.  The awards include our appreciation with a personalized certificate and $100 gift card.
Nominations received by this Friday, October 4th will be considered for the first quarter awards.
Those nominated who have not received an award within the past 8 quarters are eligible for this current quarter.  You can view a list of past Make A Difference recipients HERE..

Does Your Child Need Mental Health, Learning, or Behavioral Support?

Denys KangNews

The Parent List contains first-hand referrals from local parents about area providers that have helped positively address their child’s anxiety; depression; school avoidance; eating disorders; insomnia; peer relations; grief; stress; substance abuse and more.

Much like “Angie’s List,” The Parent List contains resources in our community that have already been successfully used by another parent whose child has experienced issues similar to your child’s mental health, learning or behavioral issue. Insightful reviews on doctors, therapists, support groups, inpatient and outpatient programs, tutors, nutritionists, books and holistic medical approaches may all be found on The Parent List.
