Named after his blog, the just1mike foundation honors the life and legacy of Michael Brindley by helping to save the lives of others. Michael’s life was taken by sudden cardiac arrest at the age of 16 in 2016. Michael was a rising junior at HCHS and a member of the broadcasting club. He loved sports and broadcasting. Michael is remembered for his bright smile and kindness to all.

To ensure no other family suffers the tragic loss of a child to sudden cardiac arrest, the Brindley family started the just1mike foundation. The foundation works to provide free EKG testing screenings to all students by supporting and co-sponsoring Young Hearts For Life in-school heart screenings. The foundation has proudly co-sponsored heart screenings at HCHS and will do so again on March 24, 2022.

To further increase cardiac survival rates, the foundation created an AED partnership and donation program called “Saving Lives Together.” On Tuesday, September 21st at 5:30PM, the just1mike foundation will donate the first SaveStation Permanent Public Access Defibrillator to the Village of Hinsdale, located in Burns Field Park. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony, a CPR Demonstration by the Hinsdale Fire Department with the just1mike Junior Board members as participants, and Michael’s mother, Kristy Brindley will speak.

We are asking all students and their families to come out to Burns Field to learn about the SaveStation and how we can “Save Lives Together!”
