Volunteers Needed for the 2024-2025 School Year!

Denys KangNews

Thank you to all of our amazing PTO volunteers! Whether you chaired or worked on a committee, donated your time and resources, or served on the Executive Board, all of these made a positive impact on the students, parents, staff, and community.

We are seeking volunteers for 2024-2025 school year. Chairs are needed for Post Prom (Prom is early May and this is a wonderful opportunity for Freshman & Sophomore parents to get involved), the Holiday Breakfast, Communications, and Chairs “in training” for the Parent List. We are also seeking a Secretary and VP for the Executive Board.

Volunteering is a rewarding experience and the staff is incredibly grateful for all that we do on their behalf and for the students. Being a member of the Board allows you to ensure that we are meeting the needs of parents and students by providing the relevant meeting topics and resources.

Learn more HERE and reach out to [email protected] with your interest or any questions!

Remember how helpless you felt?

Denys KangNews

When suddenly faced with your child’s emotional, developmental, learning or health problem, where did you turn to find treatment that worked?

As we wrap up the school year, please add to our list of health care reviews on The Parent List. It takes less than 5 minutes and is anonymous.  Click HERE

The Parent List contains first-hand insights from district 86 and 181 parents about providers that helped address their child’s anxiety, depression, school avoidance, eating disorders, insomnia, peer relations, grief, stress, ADD/ADHD, autism spectrum, and more.

Doctors, therapists, support groups, in- and out-patient programs, nutritionists, books, and holistic medical approaches may all be reviewed on The Parent List.

The Community House Color Walk for Mental Health, Sunday May 19th

Denys KangNews

Hello Central Parents! I’m, Jennifer Cave, I’m one of the social workers here at Central. I come to you in hopes you could join me at this year’s Color Walk for Mental Health.  This is an excellent event for the whole family! I’m very passionate about this event because not only does it help reduce the stigma around Mental Health, but it also helps support equitable mental health services for our D86 Community. Students and families have been able to access counseling through The Community House at a rate they can afford. Let’s continue to support The Community House by helping them fundraise through this year’s Color Walk.

So, come join me and many other community members on May 19th from 8:30-11am

This event is excellent for the whole family, even your four-legged friend! In 2021-2022, we had about 400 community members. Last year, almost 1000 community members joined the walk! With your help, we can double the number of participants!
If your son or daughter is in a sport, please encourage your coach to participate in this year’s event. If you are willing to organize on behalf of your child’s sport, I’ll help you register and get all set up!
I hope to see you all there!
