The College Planning Workshop has helped hundreds of Hinsdale Central Parents and Students. The optional interviews provide students real-life, first-hand experience in preparation for a future interview with an Admissions Rep, College Alum, Coach or College Department Chair. Following each interview, the student and an interview observer will review the interview, discuss, and practice strategies for improvement.
The Hinsdale Central PTO and Guidance Department co-host this event for junior students and their parents.
The Workshop’s objective is to provide Juniors the opportunity to participate in one-on-one mock interviews. The students’ interviews are video taped on the student’s phone or tablet, so students can check out for themselves how they did in the process including: answering questions, posture, and body language.
Students will also participate in 4 breakout sessions focused on the college application process. The breakout sessions, delivered by college admissions and alumni representatives, include:
- College Applications, from the Perspective of a College Admissions Rep
- Application Essays – Take a Deep Breath
- A Student’s Journey – Finding the Right College Fit
- HCHS Senior Student Panel
The workshop also includes a 90-minute Parent Session. The session is delivered by a panel of HCHS parents and includes plenty of time for Q&A about the college application process.
The workshop fills up quickly so please register early to guarantee a spot. Registration opens in early January. Workshop materials will be provided to registered students in advance of the session.
